Group Plans Outing For This SaturdayThe Twenty-Two Club, a social club for young men and women interested in social and outing activities, will meet on Thursday evening at the Main Line YMCA at 8 P. Dr. John G. Black Dead.Dr. John G. Black died at the home of his son Mr. Clarence J. Black at Blacksburg early Sunday morning following a long period of ill health. Dr. Black was the son of William C. Black, one of the most eminent statesmen that Gear City. He was 73 years of age and was born in Gear City. Dr. Black is survived by the following children: Messrs. Roland and C. J. Black of Dirt Town; Dr. B. G. Black of Dorkville; Mesdames Lila Nicholls. Greenwood and Lucille Gear City |

In his opinion and the majority of the Gear City board members, the money could better spend on social issues. These issues would surely get him more votes come the next election. Business leaders have pushed back, saying no factories, no jobs, no jobs, no tax revenues. No tax revenues, no social spending. And cuts in social spending always result in fewer votes for the cutter. |
